The story of The Cotton Company begins with a love for traditional Turkish towels. While living in Istanbul, founder Madeleine Hugo discovered not only the beauty of the textiles, but also the craftsmanship and family traditions behind them.
When she returned to South Africa, she brought that love home with her. The result was a collection that brings together Turkish weaving traditions and the relaxed South African way of life.

For The Cotton Company, beautiful textiles are about more than how they look. It’s also about how they feel and how they’re used. Lightweight, soft, durable and versatile, a towel can travel with you to the beach, on your travels, into the bathroom or simply find a place of its own in your home.
Alongside its Turkish collections, The Cotton Company now also works with South African artisans. In Stellenbosch, locally woven cotton collections take inspiration from the natural beauty of South Africa.
